Emma's Tea Room

Southern Charm Puts on Tea Kettle in Five Points

By Jean Brandau, About.com

Any one who knows me, knows that I'm passionate about tea parties and tea rooms. One of my hopes and dreams has been for a tea room in Huntsville. In March 2006, Rebekah Klein, a retired English teacher, answered my prayers and opened Emma's Tea Room (named after her 7 year old daughter) at 401 Pratt Ave. in Huntsville. I could not be happier with this little gem of a business in the historic Five Points area of town.

Finally a real tea room! This has everything that I had come to know tea rooms for when living in Iowa. It's in a darling house. It has Victorian decor. It has lovely gift items for sell--everything from teas, teapots, silk scarves, beautifully painted window boxes and glass windows, and other one-of-a-kind gift ideas.

Lunch or tea is served on real Noritake China with real silver eating utensils. All the tea goodies are handmade daily. And assortment of teas are offered. Really...what more could we ask for?

Emma's Tea Room has seating for 34 people, seated. Emma's is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm. Elegant Afternoon Tea and parties are served by advanced reservation.

Emma's lunch menu consists of a Chicken Salad made up of chicken, dried cranberries, onion, celery, walnuts and bleu cheese served on mixed greens; Curried Tuna Salad with curried mayonnaise, celery, raisins and almonds on mixed greens and a Vegetable Salad. There are also a variety of sandwiches, soups and quiches available. There is always a dessert of the day. Take out is also available. You can stop by any time for Tea and a Treat.

Since seating is limited, it's always a good idea to call ahead for a reservation or to see how crowded it is or to make sure the tearoom isn't closed for a private party. For more information, call Rebekah at (256) 489-5850 or go to Emma's Tea Room.
