As more and more Baby Boomers hit the Big 5-0, Red Hat Clubs are springing up everywhere, with over 40 in the Madison County area. The Red Hat Society is a dis-organization of women, 50 and older, whose only purpose is to have fun and enjoy growing older.
The Clubs were founded upon the principle of the poem Warning by Jenny Joseph, which tauts "when I grow old, I shall wear purple and a red hat that doesn't suit." What ladies like about the carefree ways of the Red Hat Club is that there are no rules and no agenda, and Club meetings are mostly just lunch and laughter and an occasional field trip.
Turner actually belongs to two groups and started ordering Red Hat jewelry, hats, and clothing for herself from different vendors around the country. As she got more and more "stuff," the ladies in her groups started asking her to order things for them. As she got more and more orders from friends and they told their friends, things began to mushroom. Eventually, Janice's hobby started to overrun her home and she decided she needed to get it out of her way. That's when she decided to open a store that was filled with the treasurers that Red Hatters love so they could find it all in one place.
Red Hot Treasures features everything from scrapbooker supplies to throw pillows for the Red Hat lady. Some of the specialty items at the store include:

There are so many goodies in the Red Hot Treasures store that it's hard to limit yourself to only a few items. Not to worry--Janice has a gift registry or "wish list" that you can fill out and she files away so that your family and friends can come in during Christmas season or for your birthday and see what you'd like to have as a gift.
Red Hot Treasures also has a Christmas Room in a back room where you can find gifts and decorations not associated with Red Hat Clubs, but always in season. Red Hot Treasures is a fun place to shop--and your red hat and purple dress are optional shopping attire!
Red Hot Treasures is located in Madison by appointment only. For more information, contact Janice at (256) 830-4905 or (256) 653-2722 to see if she has something purple that you would like to buy.
