Festival of Lights...Festival of Trees...

Carriage Rides in Downtown Florence

On December 2nd the monthly First Friday's in Florence arts festival will take on a different flavor as it is combined with the traditional Festival of Lights in downtown Florence and includes entertainment provided by choirs caroling, hand-bell choirs, community groups and local musicians performing holiday music. Many businesses will hold "Open House"with stores staying open late, and horse-drawn carriages providing rides. At 8 pm, stroll over to Wilson Park (Corner of Wood Ave and Tuscaloosa St. downtown) and hear the Forest Hills Show Choir perform as the spectacular Christmas lights are turned on.

The Annual Festival of Trees at UNA also kicks off on December 2nd with a Patrons Party and Wine Tasting at historic Coby Hall, decked out in cheerful holiday décor for the festival. This festival runs through December 9th. On December 3rd there is "Gingerbread 101" class where you can create a gingerbread house. A tour of homes is scheduled for December 4th and features homes in beautiful Downtown Florence Historic District. The main attraction of the festival is "Creative Christmas at Coby". Each day of the festival a different entertainer/educator is scheduled to offer a lunchtime program--from cooking classes to holiday decorating tips. A yummy boxed lunch is provided.
