The event, which includes refreshments, will be reminiscent of a Christmas celebration of the "Old South". Belle Mont, which is an antebellum plantation home, will be decorated in a traditional style with live holiday greenery. Docents dressed in period attire will be available to share the history of the home. Musical entertainment will be provided in the parlor during the afternoon by Milly Wright (melodeon), Flora Rudolph (Celtic harp), and the Shoals Early Music (recorder) Ensemble. Ballroom dancing will be performed by the United States Amateur Ballroom Dance Association, Suzy Robbins, instructor. Belle Mont is located just south of Tuscumbia off U.S. Hwy. 43 on Colbert County Road 52 (also Cook Lane). The festivities take place from 1pm to 5pm. Admission is $6.00 for adults and $3 for children (ages 6 - 12 yrs.) I haven't attended the Plantation Christmas celebration yet, but I have taken the tour at Belle Mont Mansion and it is a glorious and fascinating historical site.
