The warm stone massage uses smooth, heated basaltic stones that absorb and retain heat. The stones are heated between 120 and 150 degree water. Combined with a Swedish massage stroke, the warm stones help tight muscles relax. And, boy, did I need that after sitting at a computer all day.
The warm stone massage takes 90 minutes and the therapist must prepare the stones ahead of time, so this type of massage costs more than a regular massages. Avant Day Spa offers Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, pregnancy massage, shiatsu massage and the "warm stone" massage. Prices range from $25 for a 30-minute Swedish massage to $90 for the warm stone massage.
