After she graduated from massage school, her best friend asked her to assist her during her pregnancy. Kari found herself giving her friend massages before and after her pregnancy. She ended up at the labor and delivery and basically gave her friend a 2 1/2 hour massage. That experience was so enjoyable that Kari began to work on becoming certified as a doula or certified birth assistant.

Kari switched from a musical career (percussion) to massage in high school when she offered fellow band members neck and shoulder rubs in between rehearsals and found she was good at it and enjoyed helping others.
