Eric McClure, NASCAR hopeful...

Eric McClure's Dream:

Eric Quinton McClure is currently a "Wildcard" contestant trying to become one of 12 competitors on the newest of reality shows Racin' For A Livin' set to air on network television during January 2007. The eventual winner of the show gets a shot at the NASCAR Busch Series in 2007 and this would be Eric's once in a lifetime shot at making it to the stock car big leagues.

Eric McClure Personal Information:

Eric McClure was born June 9, 1985 in Huntsville, Alabama. He has lived in North Alabama his entire life, including the cities of Gurley, Paint Rock, Scottsboro, Huntsville, Harvest, and Madison. Eric's parents are Cheryl and Michael McClure who reside in Harvest. His grandparents, Lawrence and Dortha Little, have helped Eric along in his racing career. They reside in Paint Rock Valley.

Eric McClure Education:

Eric McClure graduated from Sparkman High School where he was involved in both Army JROTC and Drama/Theatre. Eric stuck with stock car racing which he began as a freshman in high school at the age of 14. Eric currently attends The University of Alabama in Huntsville majoring in business studies with an emphasis in Human Resources Management. He has been a member of the Sigma Nu International Fraternity since January of 2004.

Eric McClure's Grandfather's Influence:

Eric's grandfather Lawrence Little raced stock cars at tracks in both Alabama and Tennessee in the mid-late 1970s against the likes of NASCAR's Tiny Lund, Jimmy Means, and Butch Lindley. Although, Little didn't continue to race for long, he continued to be a huge NASCAR fan.

Eric McClure Gets Into Racing:

Eric began watching stock car racing with his grandfather on television and visiting local tracks. He attended his first NASCAR race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway in November of 1996 at the final race of the season. Bobby Labonte won and his brother, Terry Labonte, captured his 2nd NASCAR Cup title. It was that day that Eric McClure decided that he wanted to race and his grandfather in motion plans to get Eric into a stock car by age 16. As it turned out, Eric achieved his that goal by age 14.

Eric McClure's Racing Carrer:

Eric began racing stock cars at age 14 at Huntsville Speedway, a 1/4 mile asphalt track. He raced in both the Hobby Stock and Street Stock/Super Street divisions until 2004 when the speedway closed. He also raced the same car twice at another 1/4 asphalt track in Carthage, TN called Riverview Speedway, winning a heat and finishing within the top 5 each time. In 2004-05, Eric raced at Thunder Mountain Speedway, a 3/8 mile dirt track in Fyffe, AL in the Bomber and Open-Wheel Modified classes.

Eric McClure's Future:

Eric McClure is not racing in 2006 but has plans to began very soon. He now has a chance at the NASCAR Busch Series through the reality show Racin' For A Livin'. If he is voted in as a TOP 5 "Wildcard" by August 15, 2006 and from there picked as one of the 12 contestants for the show. It's a long shot, but Eric is hoping for your support by going to the website and voting.
