Theatre Randolph Earn Awards at 2006 Alabama Thespian Conference

"What You Will" is a Winner!

The drama students at Randolph School walked away with over 24 awards as Pelham High School hosted the 2006 Alabama Thespian Conference February 24-26, 2006 with almost 800 Alabama high school students competing in plays and individual events.

Randolph School's award winning "drama kids" - Theatre Randolph - earned more than 24 awards under the direction of Connie Voight. And, by placing first in the Chapter Select One-Act Competition, the Theatre Randolph troupe will represent Alabama and present their recent production of James Zager's "What You Will" (an adaptation of Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night") at the International Thespian Festival in June in Lincoln, Nebraska.

More honors continued for Theatre Randolph's production of James Zager's "What You Will." They include:

Chapter Select One-Act Competition:

  • *First Place-Chapter Select Award
  • **Best Actress-Meghan Kenny as Viola
  • **Best Supporting Actress(es)-The Merry Minstrels (Mary Young, Piper Madison and Regan Humphrey)
  • **Best Technical Production
  • **Judge's Choice Award-"The Actor's Actor"-Tim Brady as Malvolio
Individual and team awards include:

  • *Jessie Mayne-Props Design for "What You Will"
  • Sassy Saint-Set Design
  • Elisa Faison, Fabi Duarte-Duet Acting, Comedic
  • Lib Tietjen, Rainer Moore-Duet Improvisation
  • Regan Humphrey, Meghan Kenny, Piper Madison-Team Improvisation
  • Tara Gernhardt-Solo Pantomime Female
  • Alex Smith-Solo Pantomime Male
  • John David Jacobson, Alex Smith, Katie Hall, Bill Igou-Troupe Display
  • Service Project Team Award - Alabama TOTS-Eat
Second Place Winners:
  • *Lib Tietjen-Sound Design for "What You Will"
  • Piper Madison, Tara Gernhardt, Regan Humphrey-Group Dance
  • Meghan Kenny-Make-up Design
  • Seema Vennam, Alex Smith-Duet Dance
Third Place Winners:
  • Rainer Moore-Solo Acting
  • Meg Manning-Costume Design
  • Meg Manning-Make up Design
  • Zac Hale-Sound Design
  • John David Jacobson, Regan Humphrey, Piper Madison-Ensemble Acting
  • Regan Humphrey was re-elected and Piper Madison was newly elected to the Alabama State Thespian Student Board.

This is a drama group to watch and encourage in Huntsville.
