Art Garfunkel's performance with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra left the audience screaming for more...more Simon and Garfunkel tunes, that is. Garfunkel got a standing ovation for "Mrs. Robinson," "Bridge Over Troubled Waters," and, of course, "Sounds of Silence." I must admit, however, that is was a little strange to hear the famous songs song solo. I think we all were missing Paul Simon a little during the concert. Maybe that's why Garfunkel seemed a little annoyed that the audience seemed to want all those old favorites. Those old favorites, after all, is what won the duo fame and fortune and five Grammy awards.
Garfunkel put on a great show, however, and treated the audience, whether they liked it or not!, to some of his solo hits, a little poetry reading, rememberances from his brief acting career in such films as "Catch 22" and "Carnal Knowledge," and even stories about his singing partner, Paul Simon, and the background for some of their songs.
