The Herdmans Were the Worse Kids...

Beth Bradley tells the audience at the opening of Grissom High School's "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" that, "The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world!" Everyone in town agrees. When Mrs. Armstrong breaks her leg, Beth's mother is reluctantly recruited to direct the Christmas Pageant.

When the Herdmans find out that they can get treats if they go to Sunday School, they show up and volunteer to be in the annual Pageant, insisting on playing the main characters. "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" written by Barbara Robinson in 1972 is the story of a family of incorrigible children who hear the Christmas story for the first time and help everyone else rediscover its true meaning.
