Rock & Roll Started with One Man...

Sam Phillips Music Celebration

He has been dubbed “The Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” and is credited with having recorded the first Rock ‘n’ Roll record ever made. He has been inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Blues Hall of Fame, and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.

He was vital to launching the careers of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Rufus Thomas and numerous other significant artists. There are even those who would argue that he is one of the most important figures in 20th-century American culture. I am of course talking about legendary producer and record company owner Sam Phillips. The first annual Sam Phillips Music Celebration in honor of his career and his legacy will take place January 3-7, 2006 in Florence.
