Tips for Week of February 15, 2007

  • Grille 29 in the Village of Providence opens to the public on Monday, Feb. 19. Hours are Sunday-Thursday, 11 am-10 pm and Friday & Saturday, 11 am-11 pm. This is a fine-dining and non-smoking restaurant.
  • Speaking of smoking--cough, cough--801 Franklin becomes a non-smoking restaurant on Monday, Feb. 19. Bad news for smokers--good news for the younger folks. Check out their Fat Tuesday Crawfish Boil on Feb. 20 at 6 pm.
  • If you own rental property, you might want to go to the Alabama Eviction Experts website and download a free Sample Lease that reflects the new laws for landlords and tenants.
  • FOX-54 has some nifty contests going on during Feb. Sweeps: Thru Feb. 16th, watch "King of Queens " at 6 pm & "Everybody Loves Raymond " at 6:30 pm to see a NASCAR car. Then listen to WTAK the next day during the 1 pm hour, the correct caller who identifies the car that was shown wins a jacket from that car's sponsor. This leads up to on Daytona 500 on FOX on Sunday the 18th. Next week, Feb. 19-23, it's "Laugh Out Loud & Win an iPod a Day !" they'll be giving away 5, 30 gig iPods to contestants who play 20 questions with Mojo of the Mojo Radio Show on WZYP . The questions start with queries that make the players watch the "King of Queens " at 6 pm.
  • Well, there's one happy camper, err diver/photographer, in Harvest these days. Congratulations to Jeff Cobb who won the grand prize (a diving vacation!) in an Underwater Photo Contest . Thanks to everyone who responded to my Jan. 18th newsletter and voted for Jeff!
  • If you have a children or elderly parents, you might be interested in this: Home Buddies , a business of in-home health care for elderly and nanny placement for children, is expanding to offer in-home Sitter Services. The new Service will allow clients access to quality caregivers, "Sitters", on an on-call/as needed basis. Our new Sitter Services include: childcare, elder care, house watching, pet care, shopping/errands, and summer nannies.
  • Volleyball, anyone? There's a brand new website for Volleyball enthusiasts in the area to discuss their favorite sport and connect different volleyball communities together.
  • The Clay House Museum is looking for Artist who would like to display and sell their art in the museum. Forms showing the guidelines are located on the website. For more information contact Robin Brewer at 325-1018
