Huntsville Insider Info for March 1, 2006

Tips for Week of March 1, 2006

• The Huntsville Stars , the AA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers , will be holding an open audition for those wanting to sing the National Anthem at a Stars home game for the 2006 season. Contestants will be required to sing the National Anthem without musical accompaniment. Auditions are March 18 from noon-3 p.m. at Madison Square Mall (center court). For more info, contact the Stars office at 256-882-2562.
• Billboard magazine has been publishing the most authoritative pop chart each and every week since 1940. What was the #1 song in the U.S.A. the day you were born? The day you graduated from high school or day you were married? Find out now.
• Panoply Arts Festival , April 28-30 this year, is bringing some new excitement to Huntsville. It is now home to Official Alabama State Fiddling Championship . Volunteers are still needed for Panoply. If you'd like to help, contact the Arts Council at 519-2787.
• Well, everything is just peachy here in Alabama...but maybe not for long. The Alabama legislators are trying to pass a resolution naming the peach as our state's official tree fruit--an honor that in 2004 went to the blackberry . Georgia isn't too happy about this.
