Tips for Week of March 16, 2006

  • Sci-Quest Museum & Canadian Mist have teamed up for a free event on April 20th for those over 21: "MISTology:The Science Behind the Cocktail." The evening kicks off with an entertaining and informative presentation on the cocktail and finishes with hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and hands-on demos. To reserve your spot, contact Courtney Sandora at courtney_sandora@b-f.com courtney_sandora@b-f.com or 1-800-268-7266. Space in limited.
  • Ability Foundation Charity Golf Tournament will be Monday, April 10th at the beautiful links of Gunter's Landing Golf Course in Guntersville. Call 256-489-4421 for a registration form. Deadline to register is April 3rd.
  • The Huntsville-Madison County Public Library is currently working on a community-wide reading project called The Big Read. In the month of April , the library will encourage all of Madison County to read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. As part of the initiative, the library will present numerous programs relating to the novel and the 1920s era. There will be a cocktail party at the Erskine Hotel on Friday, March 31 , to benefit the Huntsville Historic Foundation.
  • Challenger's House is looking for auction item donations and volunteers for their "Cat Tales" Silent Auction on April 7th at 7 pm (details on the Events Calendar). For more info, call 658-3149, 420-5995 or email brodieaah@aol.com brodieaah@aol.com .
  • The Limestone Dust Poetry Festival Foundation will hold their annual festival on Saturday, April 8 at the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library. The Limestone Dust Poetry Festival is also the only "for poetry only" festival in Alabama. The festival is open to the public. Admission is free.
  • On a more personal note: I learned how fleeting life can be this past week when my precious, sweet cat Samantha died last Saturday. She always "helped" me with my this newsletter and other computer work. Today is especially sad without my loyal helper and friend. Please support Friends of Ferals in their untiring efforts to find homeless cats a permanent home. If you're looking for a cat, they are sure to have what you're looking for. Just give them a call.
