- Well, our secret is out: Kiplinger.com has named Huntsville as one of its Best Cities for Mid-Level Professionals . The report analyzed quality of life aspects specifically for those employed in the "creative class" including: engineers, architects, educators, writers, artists and entertainers. We know this, now the world knows.
- If you're a coffee lover, you'll want to check out About's Donna L Montaldo, Guide to Coupons/Bargains, article on Starbuck's secret and coffee wars . Seems Starbucks has an eight ounce "short cappuccino" available, but it is not advertised on the menu.
- If you've noticed a lot of strangers in town, it could be because slightly more than 2.5 million visitors spent over $775 million dollars -- which is three-quarters of a billion dollars - in Madison County last year according to the 2006 Travel Industry Economic Impact Report , an annual study commissioned by the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel .
- The Clay House Museum is hosting the 4th "Southern Shutters " Photograph juried competition and exhibit. The competition is open to all photographers, applications must be made by June 11th. - Due to construction delays, the VIP Party for the Grand Opening of Mason's Pub , mentioned in last week's newsletter, has been postponed until further notice.
- Family Circle magazine & Wilhelmina Modeling Agency are looking for mothers (ages 21 & older) and daughters (ages 12-19) who are beautiful on the inside and the outside. Submit a photo of the two of you together, a $25 entry fee, and a brief description of your relationship and how you are a "model" mother-daughter inspiration to others. Deadline is July 10, 2007.
