Tips for Week of May 25, 2006
- About a year or so ago, I told you about a Huntsville Lab Service Center in Crestwood Medical Center that few people knew about and that was usually not as busy as the other locations around town. I just found out that they moved a month ago to 1015 Airport Road, Suite 203 (across from Taco Bell).
- Take this as you want, but according to Out Magazine , Alabama is the worst state for gays and lesbians.
- Motorists in Huntsville are among the nation's safest drivers according to a study conducted by Allstate Insurance Company . Huntsville ranked 4th, while Souix Falls, SD ranked first. Each motorist in Huntsville has on average one accident every 12.8 years. The national rate is one every 10 years. Since I had one in Feb. 2006, I guess I'm save until 2018 or 2019.
- Madison was named one of the country's Best Places to Raise a Family, according to Sperling's Best Places, May 2006.
- More than 2.4 million visitors pumped in excess of $688 million into the Huntsville/Madison County economy during 2005 according to a report just released by the Alabama Bureau of Tourism & Travel .
- On June 1st, James Turner is opening a new thrift store called Alabama Helping Hands Southside Thrift Store. It is located at 9009-1 So. Memorial Parkway, corner of Weatherly Road and Parkway. It will be open Monday-Fridays 9am-6pm, and on Saturdays 9am-6pm. They are now accepting donations of household items, furniture, clothes, shoes,electronics,tools, vehicles, etc. For more info, call Phone 881-6979.
