Tips for Week of June 7, 2007
- Every 7 minutes a woman is diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer; an estimated 82,000 cases will be diagnosed in the US this year alone. Do you know someone who is an ovarian cancer patient or survivor? A new garden in Huntsville is being built in their honor. The Lilies of the Valley Garden of Life and Remembrance will be located on the Gateway Greenway on Meridian Street in downtown Huntsville and is a place for celebration of milestones and survival, as well as a place to reflect and remember those who've been lost. Bricks are being sold in honor or memory of those affected by gynecologic cancers. A unique feature in the garden is a huge bell for survivors to ring on survival anniversary dates or for any happy occasion. For more information, call (256) 880-7366.
- Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Inc., (Red Robin), will open its third Alabama restaurant in Huntsville on Carl T. Jones Drive on Monday, June 11 at 11 a.m. They are hosting Burgers With A Heart fundraiser to benefit Huntsville Fire and Rescue with 50 cents from every gourmet burger sold during grand opening week, June 11 to 17, going to fire dept.
- UAH is proud to present the world premiere of " Crossing Over: The Vietnam Stories " June 21 - 22 - 23 at 7:30 pm and June 24 at 2:30 pm in CHAN Auditorium - $10.00 adults - Students FREE with ID. For more info, call (256) 337-8476.

- From June 6-July 26, every Wednesday & Thursday at 10 am, Rave Motion Pictures is offering free Summer Movies. First come, first serve.
- There's a new ballroom dance studio in town. Madison Ballroom Dance Studio , located at 9076 Madison Blvd. Ste. C&D, Madison, teach American Style Ballroom dancing which includes instruction in Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha-cha, Rumba, Swing, Mambo, etc. For more information, call (256) 461-1900.
- Good news/bad news: The Convention & Visitors Bureau is not offering free walking tours of historic downtown Huntsville. However, Alabama Constitution Village is offering trolley tours lasting 45 minutes every Saturday in June and July and narrated by Jacque Gray Reeves; two tours, first at 10:30 and second at 11:30, cost is $7 per seat. You can see parts of downtown, Twickenham, and a brief ride plus history of the Depot Museum. For more information, call (256) 535-6564.
