Tips for Week of July 12, 2007

  • Beginning September 6th, Delta Airlines is going to add non-stop flights from Huntsville to New York's LaGuardia Airport . Now it will be possible to leave Huntsville in the morning, spend the day in New York and then return home that evening. New York, New York--here we come!
  • There will be a free Friday the 13th scavenger hunt for kids in grades 4-6 at the Huntsville Museum of Art at 10 a.m. Tickets can be picked up at the Huntsville Library Main, Bailey Cove, Madison, or Monrovia branches.
  • Billy Gilley, a poultry/cattle farmer from Holly Pond, has been selected as the 2007 Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year for Alabama .
  • Meetup.com it is a way for you to identify and meet with people in Huntsville who share a common interest - anything from scrapbooking to politics.
  • In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day . This Sunday, July 15th, is National Ice Cream Day. Celebrate by using a $1 off any sundae coupon from Baskin-Robbins .
  • The Signature Gallery Museum Store is no longer ! at the Huntsville Museum of Art . In mid-August, the Museum will be converting that space into Space 300 , a new showcase for local artists and their work.
  • Iris Joanna Billiter will present "Dressing the Evening," her 2007 summer fashion collection on Saturday, July 14 at 9 pm at the historic Lowe Mill's south courtyard . Admission is $7 at the door.
