Tips for Week of July 13, 2006
- Huntsville is #1 or #2 or something. According to Salary Value Indexon Salary.com , Huntsville is #1 and Birmingham is #2 for building personal net worth, taking into account local salaries, cost of living, and unemployment relative to the national average. Then again on the same site, it has another table that lists Huntsville as #2 (and Birmingham is #11) because it "enjoyed recent industrial strength and revitalization. " I'm confused, but I'm glad Huntsville is at the top of these lists for something good!
- Ladies, want to have some fun? Then you might want to attent the Fourth Annual Southern Lady Celebration September 29 through October 1 in Nashville at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. Special guests speakers include Jan Karon , author of Mitford book series (remember Father Tim?) and Nancy Grace from CNN. - Hey, get your goofy glasses out, folks: 3-D is coming July 21st to Rave Motion Pictures in the new movie " Monster House ." You have to pay extra to watch it in 3-D or you can chose to watch it "regular" at regular price.
- American Idol knows Alabama is a winner when it comes to talented singers...so this year they're holding auditions in Birmingham on August 21st. If you're 16 to 28 as of August 6, 2006, and try out, let me know...I'll be rooting for you!
- I was thrilled to hear that Wachovia Corp . has donated $25,000 to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center's Saturn V Restoration Project . The Saturn V, designed in Huntsville and on display here since 1970, is the largest rocket ever launched and made it possible for Americans to travel to the moon. Recently refurbished, the Saturn V (one of only three in existence) will be moved into its new home next year. Don't forget your part, and order your "First to the Moon and Back" license plates...I've got mine. Part of the cost goes to the Restoration Project.
- The Huntsville Museum of Art will charge a new admission rate for Thursday admission from 5-8 pm. Instead of half price, it will now be $5 per adult, children age 6-11 will remain $3 and Museum members and children under 6 will still be free.
- You don't need a newspaper to get coupons to clip. You can actually print them from your computer at Coupons.com .
