- Thanks to Lou for telling me about the YouTube Video of the Huntsville Fire Department singing their version of "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?"
- A Culinary Arts degree program coming to UNA - The University of North Alabama in Florence has become the only four-year public school in the state to offer a culinary arts degree. The degree program will feature a major in culinary arts with a minor in business. The goal of the program is to graduate students with the skills to be a successful chef as well as manage the business side of operating a restaurant.
- The Space Review has a review of the book The Voice of Dr. Wernher von Braun .
- Hey, we're #1 again... Esquire took a poll and Kaffeeklatsch in Huntsville was voted best bar in America .
- Just Kids Stuff Marketplace , which carries new and used babies, kids, tweens & teens stuff August Market is this Saturday from 8am -12 noon (Main Street, Downtown Madison).
- Alabama is one of 20 states that issue stamps to tax illegal drugs . Drug dealers are required to affix the stamp to the products they sell, or face prison time and a hefty tax levy.
- There's going to be a new race track in Alabama. Alabama Motorsports Park gates will open in 2009 in South Alabama. The complex will boast four racing venues: oval, road course, dirt track and drag strip. Kelley, Kerry and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are part of an investment group and providing input into the project. '
- Governor Bob Riley has proclaimed August 27th as Jeff Cook Day . Jeff Cook , one of the original founders of the group Alabama, will be the featured artist with his partner Mitch Glenn and the All-Star Goodtime Band at a free concert at 6:00 pm that day at Civitan Park in Guntersville.
- If you're enchanted with "Dancing With the Stars," you might be thinking of taking lessons. If so, you might want to check out Madison Ballroom Dance Studio located at 9076 Madison Blvd, Suites C & D, hosting a Grand Opening Show Dance this weekend on Saturday, August 11th from 7-10 pm.
