Tips for Week of September 13, 2007
- Taylor Hicks , a former Auburn student, will be featured during the Auburn University Marching Band's show during the Mississippi State at Auburn football game on September 15. Let's hope Taylor brings Auburn some good luck this week!
- Have you seen those " Not a Repeat.com " signs around town? I was sure that it was some radical political message from someone-but the people who had the signs in their yard seemed to be decent people. I had to look it up and found that it was a very creative message from a local church .
- The September issue of Budget Travel magazine has selected Tuscumbia as one of the "10 Coolest Small Towns " in America. GAS Studios art gallery, The Palace Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop , ColdWater Inn and other local attractions are profiled in the Tuscumbia section. Sounds like this would make a fun day trip or weekend getaway.
- The Alabama-Auburn game and Birmingham's Rickwood Classic were selected by ESPN for their " 101 things all sports fans must experience before they die " list released this summer.
- WBCNA's Workshop on "Developing a Marketing Plan- In 5 Easy Steps " is set for Oct 2, 2007 from 5:30-7:30. Cost is $25/session. Enroll early, class size limited. For more info, call (256) 213-2727. Workshop Leader is Wendy Kobler wendykobler@comcast.net .
- For the third time in four years Alabama's Tourism Department is named the Best in the South . The Southeast Tourism Society gave the award to the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel for it's Year of Alabama Arts Campaign.
- Alabama's success in improving math and science education was the focus of National Governors Meeting on Sept. 10th at Marshall Space Flight Center .

- If you miss Shaver's Bookstoreshavers@mindspring.com , John is trying to built up his inventory after the successful closing business sale. You can find Shaver's booth on the second floor of Railroad Station Antiques Mall , on Jefferson St. in downtown Huntsville, starting in October.
