Tips for Week of November 16, 2006

  • If you're planning a private or corporate holiday party and looking for entertainment, then you need Windham Entertainment . They represent a wide variety of talent and entertainment services from bands and magicians to actors and event planners. For more info, call (256) 489-8080 and let them "send in the clowns."
  • I love tea parties! Emma's Tea Room is hosting a Christmas Tea for the public the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24th, to bring in the Christmas season in a refreshingly elegant style. Sign up for one of the three sessions. Cost is $15 per person. Sessions are 9:30-11:00, 12:00-2:00, and 3:00-5:00. Reservations are required, call (256) 489-5850.
  • GIS has installed a webcam that feeds live video of downtown Huntsville to the internet. The tour will focus on specific sites for 15 seconds and then pan to the next features. The camera has infra-red capabilities so it is operational day and night.
  • It's Tornado Season in Alabama. Significant tornado events include the Super Outbreak in 1974 , the more recent Huntsville, Alabama Tornado in 1989 that killed 21 and injured almost 500, and the Anderson Hills Tornado that killed one and caused extensive damage in 1995.
  • The U.S. Space & Rocket Center has a variety of gift items for sale to help raise money to restore the Saturn V , including gourmet coffee, coffee mugs, gift sets, and toy rockets. Taller than a 30-story building and! capable of generating 85 times the power of the Hoover Dam, the Saturn V represents one of the greatest scientific achievements in the history of mankind. Don't forget to buy your Saturn V license plates , too.
  • And remember, there are more chickens than people in the world.
