Tips for Week of November 23, 2006
- Kana Hotel Group, A Knoxville-based hotel group, has received approval from Hilton Hotels to develop a 102-room Hilton Garden Inn on Boulevard South off South Memorial Parkway. They plan to break ground by March 2007 and open by March of 2008.
- It's officially time to put up the Christmas tree and decorations. If you'd like to share your masterpieces, please send me your photos for a Christmas Photo Album. Send a jpg attachment to [b]huntsville.guide@about.com for consideration.
- The Galaxy of Lights drive-throughs starts on Thanksgiving Day. The price is $15 per carload for up to 10 passengers; $3 for each additional passenger. Get a $1 discount for donations to the food bank, toys for tots, and warm coats for the needy. if you attend the U.S. Space & Rocket Center's showing of the Polar Express in their IMAX theater, you can come to the Galaxy of Lights on their Polar Express Bus for only $2 more. The busses run on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Last year the Heart of the Valley Can-A-Thon collected 271,000 cans of food donations for 21 charitable organizations across the Valley that help feed the hungry during the holidays. November 30th you can drop off cans at these locations: Florence-Regency Mall, Decatur-Colonial Mall, Athens-Lowe's, Madison-Redstone Federal Credit Union (Wynn Drive), Marshall-Wal-Mart, Dekalb-Salvation Army, and Jackson-Salvation Army.
