Tips for Week of December 22, 2005

  • Why not give a future gift of life this Christmas? As of April 1st, Alabama's organ donor registry holds 1,314,940 names of individuals that want to become organ donors upon their death. If you register, be sure and tell your family and have it added to your driver's license.
  • I just realized recently that Bed Bath & Beyond and Linens & Things have changed their policies on coupons. Each store used to take the others coupons, even expired ones. Now each store has their own policy. Locally, the BB&B on University has the most liberal policy--taking any coupons, even expired ones. The BB&B on Carl T. Jones has the strictest policy--no expired coupons, but will reimburse you up to a year if you buy something and later come back with a current coupon. Linens & Things will take any of the expired coupons (except the 20% off total purchase) up to 60 days from expiration. Now you know! You can also use more than one coupon at any of the stores.
  • The latest innovation in North Pole technology was unveiled at the University of Mississippi Medical Center--a prototype of the "Naughty or Nice" machine . Children are invited to submit questions to Santa Claus or to the Santa Institute. They know Santa's secrets because they are the personal medical team for Santa and his reindeer. Each inquiry gets a personal reply.
  • The Chef's Table opened this week in its new location on Cecil Ashburn Road.
  • Palette Cafe is now open in the Huntsville Museum of Art.
  • Bo Bice's new official website contains his current touring schedule
