There are plenty of places to go to enjoy fall activities and halloween fun in the North Alabama area.
The weather is perfect this time of year. I've heard lots of people say that fall is there favorite time of year. I don't know if it's because I was born in spring or that I lived in Iowa for 30 years, but I try not to get too excited about fall. In Iowa, I learned that fall lasts about two weeks...and then the bitter, cold, snowy winter lasts for about 7 months! No...fall isn't my favorite time of year--I prefer spring, when everything comes back to life and we have three nice, warm seasons to look forward to. What's your favorite time of year?
There are many great opportunities for hiking in the Huntsville area and Bob Goodwin shares with us his discoveries as an avid local hiker. Hiking destinations include Huntsville itself, the surrounding counties, and other areas within 70 miles or so. There are jewels right here, such as Monte Sano State Park, all of the Land Trust properties, the greenways and other places. There are also a myriad of opportunities not that far away in some of the other state parks and in Tennessee. During a recent Earth Day at the Hays Preserve, Bob manned a table for the Tennessee Trails Association and had the opportunity to talk to about 90 people about hiking in the Huntsville area. Most knew about Monte Sano State Park and the Madison County Nature trail. However, little was known about other properties and opportunities that lay not that far away in Tennessee. There were also some questions about who sponsors the hikes in the area. Here is photos and information on hiking.
